Local, mobile search is becoming an everyday luxury for Americans on the go. Google would like to add another dimension to their local search capabilities catered to those with mobile devices: time.
For both iPhone and Android-based devices local search now has an additional option of displaying businesses that are open now. This filter is displayed above search results and is fantastic for users looking for a late night eatery or just need to know what is open in the area.
The hours of operation info come from Places profile data, which may not be accurate. As Google gets more businesses to interact with the Places program and begin to manage their business information, the accuracy will improve.
