For this study, Chitika Insights explored advertising click behavior throughout it's entire ad network, organizing results by referring domain. The report consisted of tens of millions of online advertising views from October 1 to October 10, 2013. Traffic reports included internal traffic (website traffic from one page to another) and external sources.
The study found that traffic originating from search engines offer a higher CTR as a whole. Interestingly, website visitors originating from the Ask.com search engine have the highest CTR (see chart above). Google demonstrated the lowest CTR in comparison to other search engines like Bing, Ask, and Yahoo.
