Apple recently updated the App Store search engine to assist users with finding apps against all odds, including misspellings, typos and "fat-fingered" searching errors. Sarah Perez at TechCrunch was first to report the Apple search update.
By forgiving common typos and misspellings, Apple will help improve the search experience of it's store and possibly improve sales for app developers. Also, as more apps enter the marketplace, app designers will need to be more creative with their app names. Longer names or less broad names will be more realistic with the rollout of this new spelling assistance in the app store.
