iOS introducing Apple maps and Google pushes street view to mobile

Street view, a new addition to mobile maps

Google is introducing street view to both iOS and Android mobile devices. The new addition is just in time for iOS 6, which had a startlingly bad review in the NY Times for Apple's own mapping program--called an "appalling first release." Even Stephen Colbert mocked the mobile software during his program.

Apple iOS users can still use Google Maps, and now it comes with the benefit of street view. In order to access the application, visit the Maps app online and create a homescreen icon with the maps URL. The application will continue to have tools like written directions, public transportation details, live traffic reports, but it will be missing spoken directions. Well, perhaps one of the biggest reasons users may migrate back to Google Maps will be the fantastic database of shops and businesses that Google has built up.
