A new report by Brandwatch reveals some trends about how many of the world's biggest brands continue to use Twitter for broadcast instead of engagement. The report focused on 253 brands and how they used Twitter to communicate with their users.
The report showed that 97.6% of the brands in the report tweeted, compared to 90% in 2012. In 2011, merely 62% tweeted. And, greater than half of these brands tweeted 30 times per week or more--see chart below.
The report also shows that 69% of the largest brands online are using Twitter for both broadcast and engagement--rather than just broadcast.
Some of the companies listed in the report may one feed for marketing messages and company news, and community engagement will be left to a separate, customer service account.
