Apple's new Macbook Air laptops are the first of a kind in many ways. One of the less publicized ways is that the new laptop is the company's first computer to ship without Adobe's Flash player embedded. This action demonstrates Apple's commitment to kill the Flash player and switch to an HTML5 display environment.
Apple has confirmed that the company will stop shipping computers with Adobe's Flash player. Since the premiere of the iPhone, the company has waged a war on Flash--citing a number of different reasons.
Of course, Apple users will be able to install Flash themselves. The Flash player is free. However, this decision to stop shipping the computers, in our opinion, with Flash embedded, will hurt the marketshare of Flash. This action will also end the supported security updates for Flash player on the Mac. Some security experts warn that a lack of automatic support for Flash security will do more harm than good for Apple.
