The top business lobby group in Russia, called the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, is taking action against Skype in partnership with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's political party. The lobby group has deemed Skype a threat to both national security and as a threat to Russian business.
The actions call for drafting legal (protectionist) safeguards against Skype and other Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone services.
