Matt Cutts, Google's head of anti-spam, stated that the new top level domains should not give a boost in search engine ranking above existing domains.
“I don’t expect a new TLD to get any kind of initial preference over .com, and I wouldn’t bet on that happening in the long-term either" Matt Cutts stated. Cutts stated this in response to a domain registrar trying to peddle domains by saying that TLDs will offer an enhanced ranking over .coms.
Google simply wanted to refute this position and explain that they will offer no additional advantage.
