New Google Paid Marketing Extensions To Local Search

Google announced that they will begin charging for clicks on location directions for businesses and location extensions such as an address and phone number. Location extensions are already in use for local search--as Google has been measuring the impact of these features and found that they enhance the interactions between searchers and businesses.

In addition,  the search giant will be rolling out new analytic tools that can be found in Adwords to help measure the impact of these marketing tools on your business profile listing.

Business owners will be able to find the metrics (including number of clicks) in the same place as other metrics. Select Segment, then Click type from your summary tables. If a business owner enables directions as an extension of their profile, then a “Directions” link will appear alongside their listing for both the ad and the sponsored map listing.
