Mobile strategy is a growing priority for businesses

Mobile has a big impact on business, and it’s safe to say that many companies have recognized this fact. In the latest Quarterly Digital Trends Briefing by Econsultancy, a survey of approximately 1,000 global participants responded to questions regarding marketing, IT functions, and web development and their relation to mobile technology.

In comparison to 2013, most companies who were surveyed put forth an effort to ensure that customers on mobile devices had the same conveniences as those on desktops.

When asked if it is a significant challenge to offer optimal experiences across all screens and devices, here’s what those surveyed said:

2013

  • 70% - Agreed
  • 17% - Neutral
  • 14% - Disagreed

2014

  • 60% - Agreed
  • 25% - Neutral
  • 15% - Disagreed

When asked if they believed their company is a “mobile-first” business:

2013

  • 11% - Agreed
  • 24% - Neutral
  • 65% - Disagreed

2014

  • 12% - Agreed
  • 31% - Neutral
  • 57% - Disagreed

Those surveyed were also asked what they currently considered the most important criteria for their business when appraising a CMS:

  • Ease of use – 41%
  • Content authoring and management capabilities – 34%
  • Ease of integration with other parts of company – 31%
  • Providing rich media/dynamic content – 26%
  • Mobile content management and delivery across range of different devices – 25%
  • Search engine friendliness – 24%
  • Reliability of technology – 24%
  • Ease of implementation – 18%
  • Scalability – 18%
  • Level of available support – 8%
  • Hosted service – 3%
