Mainland Users Will No Longer Be Auto Directed To Hong Kong Search

Users in mainland China have been redirected to the uncensored Hong Kong version of Google following the closing of the uncensored mainland site. In an attempt to avoid full-on confrontation with Beijing, Google will cease to redirect those users to google.com.hk. Should they continue with the redirection, China's Government will not renew their business license.

It should also be noted that China's President Hu Jintao will be making a trip to the North America for the G20 meeting in Toronto. Google may be avoiding confrontation prior to this visit. The business license renewal application is due on Wednesday.
