Internet Explorer 8 was released on March 19th 2009.

New features of Internet Explorer 8.

  • Accelerators - This new functionality provideds quick access to web services. Allows you to access other web based information on visited web pages or keywords.
  • Web Slice - Provides updates on changes to a particular website.
  • Compatibility View - Helps correct or justify rendering issues caused by IE8 on older web pages. Internet Explorer 8 has adjusted its rendering model which will break the layout of some web pages.
  • Search Suggestions - Provides suggestions as you type in a search query.
  • New Tab features - Allows you to re-open accidentally closed tabs. This tool also allows you to group related tabs together using color codes (color labels).
  • Tab isolation - This fail safe tool will prevents a faulty web site from crashing the browser or getting frozen. It will cause the tag (of the faulty page) to close instead of the browser crashing.
  • InPrivate - This tool is for privacy protection. It prevents your browser from storing any private data (like passwords, cookies, browsing history, etc.).
  • SmartScreen - This tool is for added security  and protects the user against installation of malware, or malicious software.
