China requires PC makers to pre-package censorship software

China will begin to require all PC manufacturers to include content blocking software as part of all product releases. The software is labeled "Green Dam-Youth Escort", developed by Jinhui Computer System. At first the software will only block pornography, which yield a smaller public protest than politically focused content. The software will have the capability of controlling content on a much wider scale. There is a deep risk for PC makers to not abide by the government's demands--being pushed out of one of the most explosive and large markets in the world could pose long-term business development problems for any PC maker.
