Bogus Flash updates are cropping up

Sometimes, when users are browsing the web, Flash update notifications show up and it may be impossible to determine if they are legitimate or lures users to install malware.

The Flashback malware was originally was released as a fake update to Adobe Flash. Identifying a fake may be hard. Therefore, if a user is browsing the Web and sees a notice to update Reader, there are several things they can do.

  • Don't trust it
  • Quit the Browser
  • Avoid automatic updates
  • Use the standalone application. Download the update directly from Adobe
