There are many online donation tools available for nonprofits - how can one choose what’s best for their organization?

We narrowed down a few great tools for nonprofits and donors alike. Not only are they affordable for nonprofit fundraising - they are also convenient for donors to use for their widgets and donate buttons.

Best Donation Tools for Nonprofits

PayPal Donations

PayPal is internationally known as a valuable and trusted brand for its online money-processing services. Their donation buttons make things easier for qualified nonprofits, and you can easily gather some donor information with some basic HTML tweaks.

DonateNow Lite

This service by Network for Good is recommended for mid-size and larger organizations over smaller ones. It offers many fundraising services and software, including e-mail services, customer service tools, and branded donation pages. The lite version of their service charges 5% in transaction fees and also offers a few functionalities for organizations to get online donations flowing.

Google Wallet

Online donation histories are easily accessible with Google Wallet. With a few clicks, donors can easily set up repeat donations. Although there aren’t many options for personalization - donors can still feel a sense of comfort in being associated with Google’s trusted brand.

Razoo

Razoo is commonly used to search for and donate to charities. Their distinguishing factor is creating online fundraisers for charities and/or causes without charging setup fees or forced monthly subscriptions. Organizers can also use Razoo to collaborate through social media.

Causes

Causes works to empower all members of its community to collaborate and work together. Its network works as a social platform that connects people with similar interests. Brands create profiles, which aggregate all campaigns in one place. Causes allow non-profits access to free analytics.

Do note: to accept donations through Causes, a non-profit must be 501(c)3 verified through GuideStar.

Crowdrise

Gamification sets Crowdrise apart from the rest. Donors earn 10 points for every dollar raised or donated and double the points if donating to a featured charity. Prizes such as electronics, clothing, and gift cards are given to top-point winners. Non-profits have a few accounts to choose from, including a free basic account.
