Google News now allows you to sort news by the property: author. By typing in a search query "author:" followed by the name of the author that you are searching for will bring up author specific news articles. This property field was also added to the advanced search page as a new field.
Side note: Currently Google News crawls over 25,000 news sources from around the world.
