The new iOS app market place has been updated and search has been re-designed to look like a recent Apple acquisition. Apple recently purchased Chomp, and post-purchase, Apple has re-tooled their iOS market place search results to become a more card-like design, similar to the layout of Chomp.
We think this was a good move for Apple, as users gain an immediate screen view of the apps that are returned with search. Since app search is one of the most common influencers for app purchases, it makes sense to give the users more information top-level. Reducing clicks can also reduce fatigue and frustration. SearchEngineLand has noted that Apple has also updated their iPad search algorithm following the Chomp purchase.
