Android has experienced phenomenal growth, according to a report by GlobalWebIndex (GWI), climbing from 27% in 2012 to 65% in 2013. It's rise in 2013 makes the mobile OS the dominant operating system of mobile users globally.
The usage of the OS has outpaced it's adoption. Android experienced a 270% increase in use since the end of 2011.
The GlobalWebIndex (GWI) report covers 170,000 respondents in 32 markets, representing 89% of the global internet population.
Apple's iOS is used by only 20% of the global mobile web market. IOS does however possess better than average marketshare in the United States (42%), Australia (40%) and Canada (37%).
