Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is a significant update, one that easily takes the Samsung Galaxy Tab from almost unusable to something that can be used as a primary computing device for most tasks.
Here's the problem. Ice Cream Sandwich, is not available for the Galaxy Note. And it is not available for the majority of Android phones on the market. Worse, Ice Cream Sandwich has been on the market for almost 8 months.Developing an application for the Froyo OS does not mean it will work the same way in the Gingerbread OS. An app for Gingerbread does not mean it will support key functionalities included in Ice Cream Sandwich. Developers have multiple versions to consider when developing Android apps, different processors, different specs, and different screen sizes. It's a mess.
Google released numbers for the various versions of Android. While Ice Cream Sandwich’s install-base has grown significantly, it is running on less than 5% of all Android phones. 8 months after its release and the release of countless headsets.
