Google may pose a true and significant threat to Amazon with a new product called "Google Editions," which is an e-book store that supposedly contains half a million titles.
Google's e-book venture should open it's shelves this month according to the Wall Street Journal. Internationally, the store should have availability in early 2011.
The store will be device agnostic, entirely web-based, and, let me say again, device agnostic. Yes, readers can use any device from Android to the iPhone, from tablet to laptop browser, to read a book from Google--which is certain to shake things up across the web. The advantage for users/customer will be that there will nolonger be a need to purchase and get locked into an e-reader.
