US media advertising spend will hit $171.33 billion in 2013. This number is up 3.8% in total--over $6 billion from last year. Digital and mobile advertising was responsible for this uptick in ad spend for 2013.
Programmatic advertising is very popular among online marketers and is seeing popularity gains. Marketers have spent 75.3% more on programmatic advertising in 2013 than in 2012.
EMarketer reports 2014 should also see an additional increase with the FIFA World Cup soccer tournament, the Winter Olympics and the US midterm elections.
Spending on newspaper, magazine and directory advertising will decline through 2017 and radio ad spend currently remains flat.
